He gathers up his maps and jogs down the stairs, typing on the phone with one hand while he tries to figure out where he is in relation to the dungeon dorms]

[and then the staircase he's running down isn't there any more]

[some impulse makes him grab the lower rung of the banister as the stairwell directly below moves away with a grinding sound. His arm jerks in its socket and he only manages to keep the maps from falling by holding them against his chest with his knee.]

[what is with that place. He growls and types on the phone]

[now how to get up on the stair above with one hand and one leg free and the potential for that stairwell to grind back in place and sever his hand off. The thought makes him shudder]
