Something strange...
[he is... not entirely sure why the label sent him here to be honest. But it must have because how else did he get here? Had he missed something somehow?
Well, either way, that's a mystery for later. Right now he has to...address the student body, he supposes]
Hello, students. I am your new DADA professor. This may seem odd but can someone tell me what that stands for? I must have gotten[what's the word] Memory Charmed at some point.
[and after a moment's hesitation adds]
I used to be in a band. Everyone remembers that right?

Defense against dark arts. Obliviated.
[It's a joke, right? It must be, because first Aidou, not this? How is someone who doesn't even remember his SUBJECT supposed to TEACH them?!]

I'm not really into painting to begin with. [he wonders if he has gotten the wrong place. A quick check of the door outside has his name on it and when he returns to his desk he finds a length of curved wood.
What the--
He stares at the length of wood and then absently scratches his temple with it as he squints at the rest of the message, saying to himself.]
Obliviate?
[..........................................................................
Sabo blinks and looks around the room. Where is he? The label must have sent him, obviously, but he can't remember getting here. There's something in his hand.
...Did... he type that? Why doesn't he remember typing that]
It isn't an art class. [he only just prevented himself from putting a question mark there]

No!
['It's supposed to teach you how to defend yourself against prohibited use of magic and I ABSOLUTELY NEED OUTSTANDING MARKS IN IT!' is what Rin wants to type, but holds it back. Do not antagonize your new teacher. Do not antagonize your new teacher. He chants it like a mantra in his head. You already did that with Aidou, see what it brought you. Here's a new chance. Don't screw it up. Deep breaths. Not your first crap teacher. You got this.]
It's about defensive magic. Look, maybe you should see M'am Pomfrey. I'm sure she can help you with your memory.
[Or the headmistress, to let her know what a dill she hired this time.]

[well... he didn't know specifically but he recognized the context. Magic. Defense against evil magic. That sounded pretty interesting.
Much more interesting that working with a band whose music he really had no stake in because it was just essentially freeform poetry with music thrown in to be edgy without addressing any of the systemic problems of racism, classicism and overall fascist nature of the music industry.
Here he could do some real work.
Only...]
Yes. I'll see her anyway. It seems like a good idea. But is this class... has it been practical or theoretical?
[because he can study up on it no problem but he's not actually sure he can do magic. He doesn't even have a top hat to pull a rabbit out of but... he runs a hand through his hair... why does he have the overwhelming feeling that he should?]
no subject
It's good if it's both.
[As anyone with two braincells would figure! Deep breaths, Matsuoka. Maybe this is his chance to influence the progress of the class, he should use the opportunity.]
... With heavy emphasis on the practical part.

I heard that loud noises are supposed to scare away evil spirits. Maybe drum lessons. (joking)
[though not joking at all really. He just wants to see what he can get away with until such a time he can figure out what the hell is going on]

Are you alright?

But I'm fine.

Not normally which is why I'm concerned.
